Our Story: From Burnout to Breakthrough
In 2017, seasoned Australian financial services professional, Brian Jones, was facing an overwhelming workload. Despite building a successful consulting practice in Melbourne, he felt overwhelmed by paperwork, compliance requirements, and admin tasks.
Determined to reclaim his work-life balance, Brian explored outsourcing as a solution. Like many others, he initially tried the DIY approach, hiring virtual assistants directly from the Philippines without proper support.
Things didn’t go as planned. Recruiting difficulties, inconsistent training, and a lack of structured management only added to his workload.
But instead of giving up, Brian used his experiences to create a strong vision for a comprehensive offshoring solution that would actually work, both for his business and for others.
Within a year, VA Platinum was launched, with offices in Melbourne and Cebu.
Since our launch in 2017, VA Platinum has successfully onboarded and trained 700+ team members, and supported 300+ Australian businesses to achieve their goals through highly skilled, dedicated offshore teams.

Richard Houston
Richard Houston brings more than 25 years of mortgage broking, lending and business leadership experience to VA Platinum.
He has founded and grown mortgage broking businesses, built a national aggregation network supporting more than 1,300 brokers, and managed a retail operation comprising 65 mobile lenders and 50 administration staff. Richard has also led broker sales teams, developed training and compliance programs, and introduced CRM and workflow systems.
Having worked across every stage of the mortgage process, Richard understands the administrative workload, compliance requirements and operational challenges facing brokers. At VA Platinum, he draws on this practical experience to help mortgage broking businesses identify where skilled virtual assistants can improve processing efficiency, client service, broker productivity and business growth.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management, a Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking, and a Diploma of Financial Planning.
